Rick Knudsen is a man who won a $180 million Mega Millions jackpot back in 2014, and one of the first things he did (after quitting his job, naturally) was purchase a huge estate in the California mountains that was at that time still under construction. Now, Eagle Crest Estate is back on the auction block, and with a $19 million price cut, compared to when it was originally listed last year.
Knudsen paid $5.5 million for the property in 2014, quickly adding two additional pieces of land to bring his estate up to 845 acres altogether according to a story in The Wall Street Journal. Then, in 2018, he listed the property for $26 million, evidently failing to find a buyer, since the whole thing is now up for auction with a reported minimum price of $6.9 million. Of course, it should probably be noted that the earlier price also included a couple of commercial properties in Oak Glen, a nearby town, that are no longer part of the package.
In any case, Eagle Crest Estate is, per its listing, "Southern California's most exclusive and elevated mountain estate," with incredible mountain views of "Little San Gorgonio to Mount San Jacinto, San Gabriel Mountains, Salton Sea and beyond to Catalina." The mansion that is the centerpiece of the property boasts five bedrooms, an elevator that services all three stories, as well as a very generously proportioned 4,100-square-foot, six-bay garage. Then there's the home theater, with space for 17 viewers to enjoy television and films with a "George Lucas sound system."
The house is also outfitted with a complete gym and wine cellar, and environmentally minded folks will approve of the water source and solar power setup installed as well.
Of course, it's always better to look for yourself if you can, and you can do so by checking out the video below from Wicked+.
