Los Angeles is home to movie stars, musicians, executives, and producers who make plenty of cash. However, few people in the City of Angels can pony up $250 million for a home, but that's what this Bel Air mega mansion owner is asking. At $250 million, it is not only the most expensive home in Los Angeles, it is the most expensive home in the country.

The 38,000 square foot house was built on spec by handbag tycoon Bruce Makowsky. His name might sound familiar — that's because he is the same person who sold Minecraft creator Markus Persson a $70 million house.

If the house sells for anywhere even close to its full asking price, it would easily take the title of the most expensive property in the U.S. That title is currently owned by an 18-acre estate in the Hamptons that's old in 2014 for $147 million. However, if recent real estate history is anything to go on, that price is likely to go down a bit. The Playboy Mansion went on the market for $200 million and eventually sold for $100 million.

In a comment to the Hollywood Reporter,  Makowsky said that there are only about 3,000 potential buyers in the entire world that could afford this property.

The 12-bedroom home has 21 bathrooms, six bars including a swim up bar, infinity pool, spa, bowling alley, a James Bond themed home theatre, a wall of candy dispensers, a garage filled with luxury cars including Ferraris and Lamborghinis, the actual helicopter from the 1980s TV show "Airwolf," and an array of other amenities including a staff of seven.

Will this property attract a celebrity? Jay-Z and Beyoncé reportedly wanted the home Makowsky sold to Persson. Will it attract a Russian oligarch? A Chinese billionaire looking to invest cash outside of China? Only time will tell.
