Ellen DeGeneres has secured something of a reputation for herself in the house flipping business, as she is reported to have made a dozen house purchases over the last two decades. Now, CNBC reports that she's put one of her more recent acquisitions back on the marketplace, listing the oceanfront estate of just over an acre in Carpinteria, California up for sale at a price of $24 million.
That's a tidy profit of almost $6 million against the $18.6 million she's reported to have paid for the property about two years ago. The main house itself measures in at 6,862 square feet, three bedrooms, and three and a half baths. The guest house tacks on another bedroom and two baths, while the property also boasts the prime feature of 77 feet of beachfront accessible by the house's large beach-side terrace. As the house's official listing describes it:
"For a fabled few, this prime location is a gateway to the California dream. Imagine your morning lattes with sandy toes, briny afternoon sun salutations and evenings spent watching the sun make her somnolent journey across the sky. This oceanfront estate is an incredible place for everything from quiet moments of contemplation to grand celebrations of life's milestones."
The listing also somewhat humorously describes its coastal views as "overly expansive," but that is probably a good problem to have, all things considered.
The house will likely be attractive to buyers looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, and is touted accordingly as a "Seaside Escape" in relatively small Carpinteria, 11 miles south of Santa Barbara and about an hour and a half's drive from LA. The whole house seems to have been engineered with enjoyment of the surrounding beach as a primary focus, with an outdoor courtyard and several outdoor decks, including one on the roof with its own fireplace.
