Followers of Drake's Instagram account were recently treated to an extensive tour of the artist's latest acquisition: A private jet with his name emblazoned on the side. And according to the video, Drake is proud to own the jet free and clear, proclaiming that it's all his with "no rental, no timeshare, no co-owners."
The jet is called Air Drake, a moniker which some longtime Drake fans may remember from way back in 2010, when the rapper temporarily lent his name to a Virgin America party flight from LA to Toronto, hosted by Virgin founder Richard Branson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Per a Billboard report at the time, Drake was enthusiastic about the mere prospect of a plane being (temporarily) named after him, so it stands to reason he would be even more excited about owning such a jet now:
"Flying on 'Air Drake' is truly humbling. I'm truly honored to have a plane named after me."
Also seen in the video is one Ajay Virmani, who is the CEO of Cargojet. Drake thanks him for making Air Drake possible, and sure enough a partnership between Drake and Cargojet was announced shortly after the video was posted. In the press release announcing the partnership, Drake had this to say (you'll notice he doesn't mention Air Drake here for whatever reason):
"Supporting home grown businesses has always been a top priority of mine, so when an opportunity came up to get involved with a great Canadian company I was honored to do so."
Drake's new jet is reportedly part of the deal between himself and Cargojet, but a plane of this size would reportedly cost anywhere from $75 million to $100 million, depending on added features and customization.
Keep watching the skies, and you might just see Air Drake in the air above you as the rapper travels the globe. Or, you can take a look at Drake's video tour of the plane below:
