She is best known for starring as Bobbie Jo Bradley on the TV series Petticoat Junction from 1965 to 1970. She started her career appearing in episodes of the series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet from 1960 to 1962.

Saunders also starred as Bobbie Jo Bradley on the television series Green Acres from 1965 to 1966. She appeared on the TV series The Beverly Hillbillies from 1968 to 1971.  From 1973 to 1974 she starred as Betsy on the series Dusty's Trail. Lori Saunders also starred in the movies Mara of the Wilderness, The Girls on the Beach, Blood Bath, Head On, A Day at the White House, Frasier, the Sensuous Lion, So Sad About Gloria, and Captive. She retired from her acting career in 1980.
